We’re Hiring: CNC Machine Programmer / Machining Shop Technician

Duration: 6+ Months Contract (extension possible based on performance)
Pay Rate: Excellent – Based on Experience
Shift: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM-Occasional B Shift: 1–2 times/month | 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machine Programmer / Machining Shop Technician to support mission-critical manufacturing operations. This role is part of an integrated team spanning Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance, directly impacting spaceflight programs and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC mills and lathes, as well as manual machines (mills, lathes, drill presses, saws, etc.)
- Program CNC equipment using models, drawings, or process instructions
- Load, secure, and prepare raw materials; select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and work holding
- Operate waterjet and other CNC cutting equipment for rough cutting and profiling
- Perform part cleaning, deburring, fitting, rework, and basic assembly
- Inspect parts using standard metrology tools and verify conformance to drawings and specifications
- Support prototype, test, and production hardware builds
- Maintain shop organization and cleanliness per 5S and safety standards
- Perform basic tool and equipment maintenance and assist with troubleshooting
- Collaborate with engineering, technicians, and production teams to meet quality, cost, and schedule goals
- Document and help standardize production processes
- Ensure product quality and compliance with engineering requirements
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience with CNC machining (3, 4 & 5-axis)
- Strong hands-on experience with mills, lathes, drill presses, saws, and standard shop tools
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and basic GD&T
- Proven ability to work independently in prototype, test, or production environments
- Experience with deburring, fitting, assembly, and rework
- Knowledge of shop safety practices, lockout/tagout, and PPE
- Familiarity with 5S or lean manufacturing practices
- English (Read, Write, Speak)
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on CNC programming experience (conversational controls and/or CAM)
- Advanced setup skills including fixture design and tool selection
- Experience operating waterjet or similar CNC cutting equipment
- Experience machining exotic materials, ceramics, or delicate parts
