Adecco partnered with a dental manufacturer to hire a Chemical Compounder.


Title: Chemical Compounder

Location: Edgewood, NY

Pay: $50K-$60K

Schedule: Onsite Mon-Fri, 40 hours per week with occasional overtime


Job purpose

The candidate will report to the Supervisor of the Materials Department and will assist in the compounding and mixing of Dental bulk products.

The candidate will work as part of a team, as well as, independently on compounding material products.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Able to follow a set of manufacturing work instructions and SOP’s.
  • Complete required batch documentation records
  • Weigh out specified types and quantities of liquid or solid raw ingredients via automated dispensing systems or manual scales, according to formula.
  • Assist compounders in the tending of mixing kettles, mills and various mixers that mix, compound and mill raw materials used in the manufacture of dental products.
  • Extract bulk samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Assist in the daily cleaning / sanitization of kettles, mixers, utensils and compounding rooms.
  • Transfer raw materials and finished products between compounding, staging and packaging areas.
  • Assist packaging personnel by setting up filling equipment.
  • Clean and maintain mixing/filling equipment as per preventative maintenance (PM) schedule.
  • Capable of lifting and moving heavy objects up to 100 pounds
  • Be trained on motorized forklifts.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of raw materials and packaging items.
  • Help in the packaging room during down time.
  • Independent – able to work with little supervision.
  • The ability to read, comprehend and follow SOP’s and employee manual.


Working conditions

  • Occasionally, there will be overtime prior to and after shift.


Physical requirements

  • Long periods of standing with occasional periods of sitting.
  • Required to wear steel-toed work boots (company will partially reimburse)
  • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to push drums of material (on wheels) weighing over 100 pounds.
  • Required to wear PPE such as respirator when handling raw ingredients (dust used in product).
  • Ability to occasionally reach forward; rare occasion reaching overhead.
  • Employees are encouraged to use disposable ear plugs to reduce noise of machinery.
  • Employees should have the ability to occasionally use repetitive hand motion of grasping and ability to use writing instrument


Qualifications:

  • Related compounding experience and/or training is preferred but not necessary.
  • High School Diploma or GED. Associates degree preferred.
  • Basic math skills. Working knowledge of Metric System
  • Team player with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.

  • Dependability – able to follow written instruction and direction from employee manual and lead personnel.
