This position involves intern-level communications and marketing work within a fast-paced local government environment. The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting citywide communications efforts, including social media management, video production, public engagement campaigns, and event promotion.
This is a full-time summer internship, working approximately 40 hours per week.
Assist with the development and execution of communications and marketing campaigns.
Create and manage content for social media platforms, including short-form video, reels, and stories.
Capture and edit photo and video content at City events and project sites.
Support promotion of City initiatives, programs, and community events.
Assist with writing press releases, newsletters, and internal communications.
Help maintain and update website content.
Track engagement metrics and assist with reporting on campaign performance.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience creating content for social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.).
Experience with video production and editing (shooting, editing, and basic storytelling).
Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.
Creative mindset with strong attention to detail.
Must be dependable and adhere to established work schedules and expectations.
Must be actively pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
Ability to work 40 hours per week during the summer term.
Demonstrated experience in social media content creation and video production (portfolio or examples preferred).
