EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Full-time, 12-month position
PRIMARY DUTY: Manage billing and collections for University accounts, ensuring timely payments and delivering quality customer service to students, families, and campus departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Monitor and manage delinquent student accounts; assess payment history and negotiate payment arrangements with students, families and responsible parties.
2. Conduct collection activities by phone, text, mail, e-mail, and in person while maintaining a high standard of customer service professionalism.
3. Manage billing and collection processes for high school dual credit programs, ensuring accuracy and timely follow-up.
4. Monitor specialized account reports, including room and board charges for non-enrolled students and students enrolled without a social security number.
5. Process negative charges on accounts and account adjustments; manage off-schedule course drops and calculate appropriate tuition and fee refund.
6. Evaluate account charges for students not enrolled but with outstanding charges to ensure accurate account reconciliation and resolution.
7. Administer payment plans and billing cycle through TouchNet Payment Solution, maintaining data integrity and user accessibility.
8. Oversee TouchNet MarketPlace ecommerce stores, supporting the creation and maintenance of online storefronts for student organizations and campus departments.
9. Participate in University events such as Summer Orientation Advisement and Registration (SOAR) and Advantage programs to support student financial services; deliver financial literacy presentations to student organizations.
10. Supervise student employees, including oversight of a web assistant responsible for TouchNet MarketPlace storefronts.
11. Process Missouri Department of Revenue debt offset in accordance with University and state guidelines.
12. Reconcile monthly account placements with third-party collection agencies.
13. Perform additional duties and projects as assigned to support the Office of Student Account Services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: 1-3 years of experience in billing, collections, and dealing with difficult situations
Skills: Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills; cooperative; ability to positively interact with others; ability to prioritize and consistently meet assigned deadlines; ability to work independently; ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism; detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy; proficient in MS Office software applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
WORKING CONDITIONS: This position will work in an air-conditioned office with the normal hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with an hour lunch break, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required, dependent upon project deadlines.
EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED:Personal computer with appropriate software applications, multi-line telephone, copy machine, fax machine, and other office equipment.
