Position Overview
CMC Triggers, San Tan Tactical, and SOUSA Optics are seeking skilled CNC Programmers (Level I & II) to support high-performance firearms manufacturing operations.
These roles are responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs across multi-axis machining centers and EDM platforms, while working closely with engineering and production to improve efficiency, quality, and throughput.
We are building a scalable programming team, with clear growth from CNC Programmer I (developing) to CNC Programmer II (independent contributor) and future leadership opportunities.
CNC Programmer I (Entry / Developing)
Position Summary
The CNC Programmer I supports production by assisting in program creation, setup development, and process improvement. This role is designed for individuals looking to grow into a full CAM programming positon.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in creating and modifying CNC programs using CAM software
- Support programming for:
- 3-axis and 4-axis machining
- Basic turning operations
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and models
- Create setup sheets, tool lists, and basic work instructions
- Assist with machine setup and prove-outs
- Support troubleshooting of machining issues on the floor
- Work with senior programmers and engineers to improve processes
- Learn tooling selection, speeds/feeds, and fixturing fundamentals
- Maintain organized program documentation and revisions
Qualifications
- 1–3 years CNC machining or programming experience
- Exposure to CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, etc.)
- Basic understanding of:
- G-code
- Machining fundamentals
- Blueprint reading
- Willingness to learn and work hands-on in production

CNC Programmer II (Experienced / Independent)
Position Summary
The CNC Programmer II is a hands-on, production-driven CAM expert responsible for developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting CNC programs across complex machining environments.
This role directly impacts machine efficiency, cycle time, and production output.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize CNC programs for:
- 3, 4, and 5-axis machining centers
- Turning centers (live tooling)
- EDM machines (wire and/or sinker)
- Program and support:
- Mazak (Mazatrol and/or G-code)
- Mori Seiki / DMG Mori platforms
- EDM systems (Makino, Sodick, Fanuc, GF EDM, or similar)
- Create detailed setup sheets, tooling strategies, and work instructions
- Lead machine prove-outs and first article runs
- Troubleshoot machining and programming issues on the shop floor
- Reduce cycle times and improve tool life
- Optimize fixturing, workholding, and cutting strategies
- Support new product introduction (NPI) from prototype through production
- Collaborate with engineering on DFM and manufacturability improvements
- Maintain revision control and program documentation
Qualifications
- 3–7+ years CNC programming experience in production
- Strong CAM proficiency (Mastercam, Fusion 360, Esprit, GibbsCAM, etc.)
- Experience with:
- Mazak machining centers (Horizontal and Vertical Machining)
- Mori Seiki / DMG Mori machines
- EDM programming
- Strong understanding of:
- Tooling selection
- Speeds and feeds
- Workholding and fixturing
- Machining steel and aluminum
- Ability to read and apply GD&T
- Hands-on troubleshooting experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Firearms or precision manufacturing experience
- Ability to hold tight tolerances (±.0005” or better)
- Experience with automation or lights-out machining
- Basic CAD skills (SolidWorks for minor edits)
