Job Title: CNC Programmer and Operator
Job Description

Join our high-tech plastics manufacturing team as a CNC Programmer and Operator. You'll play a pivotal role in implementing, stabilizing, controlling, and improving machining processes. Collaborate with operators, engineers, designers, and drafters to facilitate process improvements, while also leading and mentoring junior programmers.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of manufacturing work instructions and process definitions in a MRP II and ISO 9000 environment.
  • Collaborate with CAM/CNC operators in developing part drawings and part programs.
  • Work alongside Production personnel and Manufacturing Engineering to enhance quality, yield, and productivity.
  • Ensure optimal operability of machine tools and equipment in coordination with CNC operators.
  • Develop CNC programs from geometry and hardcopy engineering drawings.
  • Convert CAD files, generate part drawings, and analyze part geometry using CAM programs.
  • Create tool paths, NC codes, and setup sheets in CAM programs.
  • Engage in continued education and training in machine tool technology, including CAD/CAM AutoCAD, Mastercam, ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Complete necessary documentation for programming tasks.
  • Provide team leadership and mentorship to Programmer I and II.
  • Manage products and processes effectively.
  • Conduct new employee orientation, covering requirements and processes.
  • Schedule individual areas and liaise with Machining Manager on team personnel issues.
  • Maintain frequent contact with machining operators, demonstrating good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Record labor for job tracking and maintain cleanliness of the work area.
  • Capture red lines and advise on corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with engineering on designs, taking lead on projects and ensuring their successful completion.
  • Perform additional duties as requested.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in CNC Programming and Mastercam.
  • Experience in programming for mills and lathes.
  • Knowledge of machining processes and GD&T.
  • Ability to write and develop CNC programs from geometry and engineering drawings.
  • Experience in converting CAD files and generating part drawings in CAM programs.
  • Skill in creating tool paths, NC codes, and setup sheets in CAM programs.
  • Team leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Continued education in machine tool technology, CAD/CAM AutoCAD, Mastercam, and ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Experience in managing products and processes.
  • Ability to perform new employee orientation and scheduling.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with team personnel and machining operators.

Operate in an ISO-certified environment with some noise and plastic chips in the manufacturing area. Safety glasses are recommended outside designated safety corridors, and hearing protection is advised near machinery. Comply with company safety practices and procedures, with the ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tigard, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $45.00/hr.
