Cnc Operator

We are seeking a skilled machinist with expertise in operating and setting up turret punch presses, as well as water jet or laser systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in setup, running, and light programming of machinery, along with a working knowledge of metal materials. The role requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints, operate press machinery to bend and punch steel using custom dies, and conduct quality checks using checking devices and fixtures. Proficiency in reading measuring devices such as tape measures and calipers is essential, as is the ability to read gauges and other measurement tools to ensure tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set up turret punch press, water jet, or laser machines.
• Perform setup, running, and light programming of machinery.
• Utilize a working knowledge of metal materials for effective machine operation.
• Read and interpret blueprints accurately.
• Operate press machinery to bend and punch steel with custom dies.
• Conduct quality checks on parts using checking devices and fixtures.
• Read and use measuring devices such as tape measures and calipers.
• Ensure tolerances by reading gauges and other measurement tools.

• 4+ years of machine operating experience, specifically with turret punch press, water jet, or laser.
• Proficiency in machine setup and operation.
• Experience with turret press, laser, punch press, tool and die, press brake, and surface grinder.
• Ability to operate hand tools and read blueprints and measuring devices.
• Skill in fabrication, sheet metal, and punch press operation.

• Experience with Bridgeport Mill and Manual Lathe.
• Knowledge of stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and carbon steel.
• Preference for candidates with tool and die experience.

Work Environment

Work in a small machine shop environment with a growing team. The position operates on a 1st shift with 10-hour days from Monday to Thursday, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Westminster, MD.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.
