Schedule:Full Time days, Monday - Friday, flex hours between 6am - 6 pm

How you'll make an impact in this role

  • Pro-actively collaborate with physicians and advanced practice providers to obtain clarification, resolve documentation queries, and ensure complete, accurate, and specific clinical documentation that appropriately reflects the severity of illness and level of services provided.
  • Partner with onboarding providers to educate on billing guidelines, documentation standards, and Evaluation and Management (E/M) leveling.
  • Support daily operations by identifying and resolving documentation, coding, and billing discrepancies.
  • Serve as a liaison between providers, management, and other departments to resolve coding issues, including inaccuracies and denial management.
  • Abstract relevant clinical information from patient records as needed.
  • Assign and sequence diagnosis and procedure codes in accordance with established coding guidelines and regulations.
  • Provide support to team members on urgent or complex documentation and coding issues.

What minimum qualifications you'll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • One or more of the following required:
    • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credentialed from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Clinical Documentation Prof. credentialed from the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Reg Health Info Admnstr credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Reg Health Info Tech credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

What additional requirements you'll need

  • Must live in Oklahoma as this job is on site.
  • Minimum of 5 years of coding experience preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of current coding guidelines, regulations, and compliance standards
