Civil Litigation Associate (Personal Injury & Real Estate)

Zen Law Firm
Plano, TX

Associate Attorney (Personal Injury & Real Estate) | Zen Law Firm | Plano, TX (On-Site)

About the Firm

Zen Law Firm (The Zendeh Del Law Firm, PLLC) is a Texas litigation firm based in Plano. We take cases selectively and work them thoroughly. We are not a high-inventory settlement mill, and we are not looking for someone who wants to move files in bulk. We carry a deliberately limited litigation docket so that every matter gets real attorney attention, and we expect each team member to know their files inside and out.

The Role

This is a case-workup litigation position split between plaintiff-side personal injury and real estate disputes. You will take files from intake through resolution: pleadings, written discovery, depositions, expert development, motion practice, demand and negotiation, mediation, and trial preparation. You will have substantive responsibility early and direct access to the managing partner. The firm handles client development and intake, so your focus is working up and winning cases rather than chasing business.

Personal Injury

Plaintiff-side motor vehicle, premises liability, and related negligence claims. Because we are selective about the cases we accept, you will work a manageable number of files in depth rather than a large inventory. Responsibilities include investigating liability, working with experts, building damages, drafting demands, negotiating with carriers and defense counsel, and preparing cases for trial when they do not resolve.

Real Estate

Most of our real estate work is litigation on behalf of homeowners and property owners, but the practice also includes transactional and development work, and we want an associate who can handle both. The work includes:

  • Seller's non-disclosure and DTPA claims (Tex. Bus. & Com. Code Ch. 17)
  • Residential new-construction disputes against production builders, including defective or nonconforming work and recovery of earnest money and design-center deposits
  • Construction defect and RCLA matters (Tex. Prop. Code Ch. 27), including claims against design professionals requiring a Certificate of Merit under Tex. Civ. Prac. & Rem. Code Section 150.002 and forensic experts
  • Earnest money and contract-termination disputes
  • Boundary, title, and easement or access disputes
  • HOA disputes, including Texas Property Code Chapter 209 records and enforcement matters
  • Construction lender and loan-servicing disputes arising out of failed builds
  • Transactional and documentation work, including purchase and sale agreements, contract drafting and review, and developer and commercial representation

Litigation is the core of the role, but real estate transactional or development experience is a meaningful plus, and there is room to grow that side of the practice.

What We're Looking For

  • Active member in good standing of the State Bar of Texas (or admission pending and expected promptly)
  • 1 to 3 years of civil litigation experience preferred; but we will train the right candidate, including a strong new graduate.
  • Strong legal writing and the analytical ability to work through complex facts, statutes, and expert issues
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, comfortable owning files and managing matters with limited supervision across justice, county, and district courts
  • Strong client communication skills, including the judgment to work with people during difficult moments
  • Real estate litigation or transactional experience is a strong plus
  • Spanish fluency is a plus, not required

Why Join Us

This is not a glorified paralegal role. From the start you will do real legal work on real cases, with direct mentorship from a trial lawyer who has actually tried cases to verdict. Our cases regularly put us across the table from some of the largest and best-funded insurance defense firms in Texas, and we expect our associates to meet that standard. We invest in our team and expect them to grow into lawyers who can carry their own docket and stand up in court. If you want substantive responsibility, meaningful client relationships, and a firm that measures itself by outcomes rather than file count, this is the right place.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary of $100,000+ per year, depending on experience
  • Origination incentives for cases you bring in
  • Paid time off and holidays
