We are seeking an experienced, professional, and dedicated Certified Medical Assistant in Adult & Senior Primary Care to join our clinical team. Job Type: Full-time or Part-time

Hours: 8:30 AM-5:30 PM (Monday-Friday and one Saturday per month)


Position Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct clinical support to providers in an adult and senior primary care setting. This role includes patient triage, basic diagnostic testing, medication administration, chart preparation, health coaching, and accurate documentation in our electronic health record system (Athena). The ideal candidate is compassionate, efficient, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review medications, allergies, reason for visit, and complete required screenings (PHQ-9, TAPS-1, Geriatric Depression Screening, PRAPARE, Advance Directives 65+, etc.).
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist providers with adult and cervical cancer screening examinations.
  • Perform point-of-care testing, including A1C Now, glucose fingerstick, urine dipstick, pregnancy tests, and EKGs.
  • Collect phlebotomy and lab specimens, as well as conduct in-office screening lab tests, as needed.
  • Administer medications (oral, IM, SQ, intradermal) and adult vaccines per provider order.
  • Change dressings, remove sutures, apply bandages, and perform basic first-aid procedures.
  • Document all patient care accurately in the EHR.
  • Prepping charts 2-3 days before visits to ensure all labs, imaging, and consult reports are available.
  • Request medical records from specialists and hospitals as needed
  • Educate patients on their treatment plans, medications, and preventive health.
  • Serve as a HEDIS champion by identifying and documenting patient care gaps and notifying the provider.
  • Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and equipment in accordance with OSHA and infection control standards.
  • Support clinic flow, teamwork, and communication across all departments.

Qualifications

  • Required: Active Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, CCMA) through AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, AMCA, ARMA
  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in a primary care setting.
  • Proficiency with EHR systems (AthenaOne preferred).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical workflows, and HIPAA/OSHA standards.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and maintain professionalism under pressure.
  • Bilingual (Spanish or Haitian Creole) is a must.
