Responsible for helping high school students define their career aspirations then identify community college programs and/or training to meet those aspirations. Support students to leverage Career and College Promise (CCP) dual enrollment program and when appropriate successfully bridge to Central Piedmont Community after high school. Ensure students are engaged with a Central Piedmont support system in order to achieve their educational goals.1. Maintain high quality and professional partnerships with secondary school personnel.

2. Serve as school liaison to district office for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and Central Piedmont to collaborate and share best practices for broadening postsecondary strategies at the high school level.


Career Exploration
1. Collaborate with school based CTE Career Development Coordinators (CDCs) in outreach efforts involving high school students to raise career awareness of opportunities and assist in enrollment of high school students on the college level.

2. Leverage Naviance system to support students’ efforts for career pathways in collaboration with CDCs and school counselors.

3. Coordinate events designed to promote awareness of career pathways on high school and college campuses.

4. Work with CDCs and counselors to prepare information related to career pathways for distribution to students and parents.

5. Follow a communication plan to ensure consistent communication with students, faculty, parents, etc.

6. Organize college campus and industry tours.


Advising and Registration
1. Participate in developing a multi-year student advisement strategy to build a pipeline of students ready for CCP beginning in 9th grade.

2. Maintain contact with select advisees using a proactive advising model.

3. Assist with academic/career advising and college course registration targeting career pathway, transfer and two-year bound students.

4. Maintain accurate and adequate student records to assist in academic/career advising and registration of high school students.

5. Provide information to college personnel regarding course needs for high school students.

6. Responsible for knowledge of information related to high school, community colleges, universities, military pathways policies and procedures as well as information related to community workforce development resources to provide students with timely information and guidance, assisting students in making informed decisions.

7. Assist potential and existing students with admissions and FAFSA applications.

8. Build knowledge of scholarships and programs to support access for all students.


Support Services
1. Provide supportive interventions to help students succeed in high school/college courses; providing academic success strategies to facilitate successful transition, foster progression, and promote completion of credentials.

2. Monitor student progress in high school/college classes and work with students, parents/guardians, and instructors to develop plans for success, i.e., track attendance, academic progress, early warning.

3. Serve as a liaison between the high school and Central Piedmont, including disability services coordinator for high school students enrolled in college courses.

4. Arrange and assist with placement testing and provide test interpretation for high school students.

5. Assist in retention efforts, including utilizing Watermark and assisting with early alerts.

6. Assist in communicating policy and procedure information to students and parents.

7. Conduct workshops and classroom visits with enrolled students at the high school to enhance partnership and to inform/instruct students concerning pathway requirements.

8. Recommend procedures for maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines, e.g coordination of ADA, IDEA, FERPA, etc.

9. Connect students with resources including but not limited to financial support through scholarships, FAFSA, and/or other academic support.

10. Participate in on-going professional development and training opportunities.

11. Provide excellent customer service.Bachelor’s degree and three years of full-time work experience. Should demonstrate a minimum of six month student advocacy professionally or through volunteer opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications:
Industry related career development work experience in business, industry, or labor; or as a coordinator of work-based learning (job-shadowing, internships, cooperative education, apprenticeships); or as a career/academic advisor; or in school counseling.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:
