Job Title: Category Space Manager

Job Description

We are seeking a Category Space Manager with a passion for the industry. You will work within a team environment focusing on developing insights, identifying opportunities, and communicating recommendations to drive future industry growth to internal partners and external retail customers. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work and consistently pushes themselves and others to achieve more.

Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships with retailers as a trusted category advisor across all areas of the business.
  • Develop impactful category analyses and consumer insights using a range of syndicated and non-syndicated data sources.
  • Synthesize learnings from various sources to create clear and impactful selling stories in a visually appealing manner using PowerPoint.
  • Educate internal teammates and external customers on growth opportunities through clear and impactful communications.
  • Partner with the sales team to engage external retailer buying teams in defined territories with the goal of identifying opportunities to grow the category.
  • Utilize space planning software to effectively merchandise departments according to category and retailer strategy.

Essential Skills

  • Strong passion for the industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering, Mathematics, or a similar field.
  • Moderate to advanced proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Excel to manipulate and organize data.
  • Moderate to advanced proficiency in utilizing Microsoft PowerPoint to organize and visualize storylines for presentations.
  • Ability to understand information, develop insights, and identify opportunities when analyzing large data sets.
  • Ability to translate findings and recommendations into a concise and effective selling story.
  • Ability to confidently present insights, opportunities, and recommendations to internal or external stakeholders in a persuasive manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Preferred experience in category management or sales within the consumer packaged goods industry.
  • Experience with shelf management and planogram creation (JDA, Apollo, etc.).
  • Strong familiarity with syndicated data, software, and measures (IRI, Nielsen, etc.).
  • Strong familiarity with shopper panel information data, software, and measures (IRI, Nielsen, Numerator, Retailer Loyalty data, etc.).
  • Experience with dashboarding software such as PowerBI, Qlik, or Spotfire.
  • Positive attitude and self-starter who will take ownership of work and drive results.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Team-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills.

Work Environment

This is a remote opportunity servicing a client in Phoenix. The role requires a blend of remote work and on-site presence. The work schedule is Monday through Friday.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr.
