Recruitment Number 26-014LM, Capital Improvement Project Coordinator, SR-26D ($6,535 per month) to SR-26L ($8,945 per month), Honolulu, Oahu. The starting salary may be at a rate between the minimum to maximum salary range listed above, based on qualifications.

Note: This position is also posted as Architect V (Recruitment No. 25-271KS) and Engineer V (Recruitment No. 25-272KS).The Capital Improvement Project Coordinator is responsible for the overall control and coordination of all Judiciary capital improvement projects proposed to and authorized by the Legislature; reviews proposed rental and lease agreements for all Judiciary facilities statewide and activities concerned with the maintenance, repair, alteration and improvement of statewide Judiciary buildings; initiates and monitors the procurement and execution of contracts for all facility leases, alterations and capital improvement projects; and performs other duties as required.Education Requirement: Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in architecture, engineering, or a related field.

Specialized Experience Requirement: Applicants must have five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in one or a combination of the types below:

A. Professional architectural, engineering, or project management experience which involved the preparation of designs, plans, specifications, contracts estimates and reports for various types of buildings and installations; and the inspection of construction work to insure conformance with designs, plans, specifications and contract agreements; and/or,

B. Progressively responsible professional architectural, engineering, or project management experience which involved responsibility for developing the capital improvement plans and budget for an agency; serving in a liaison capacity between management officials of the agency and officials of architectural firms and construction companies; reviewing and/or modifying designs, layouts, plans and specifications for the construction, alteration and repair of buildings and structures; and inspecting of buildings and structures for workmanship and compliance with the provisions of building and zoning codes and ordinances, and according to approved plans and specifications.

At least one (1) year of the required five (5) years of Specialized Experience must have been in the area of construction administration or related project management which demonstrated knowledge of estimating, budgeting, and bidding; construction cost management; project controls including work breakdown structure, scheduling, and staffing plan; project dispute resolution; and/or construction procurement and construction contract administration issues and procedures.

Allowable Substitutions:

1. Completion of thirty (30) semester credits of graduate study in one or a combination of architecture or engineering Master's degree program from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of Specialized Experience.

2. Possession of valid license as a professional architect or engineer by the Hawaii State Board of Professional Engineers, Architects, Surveyors, Landscape Architects may be substituted for three (3) years of Specialized Experience. Applicants who possess an out-of-state professional license must obtain a State of Hawaii license prior to appointment.
