Buyer – Manufacturing & Assembly
Our client is a global manufacturer and systems integrator of electronic safety products and wireless communication infrastructure serving industrial end markets worldwide. With 50+ years of innovation and a rapidly expanding product portfolio, this is an opportunity to join a company in a significant growth phase.
The Buyer will drive material availability, cost control, and supplier performance within a fast-paced, high-mix electronic assembly environment.
Projects You'll Work On
- Convert MRP demand into purchase orders across assigned commodities — electronic components, PCBs, machined parts, and assemblies — keeping production on schedule.
- Source and qualify new suppliers to improve cost, quality, and lead time across a global supply base.
- Own day-to-day supplier performance: track OTD, manage expedites, resolve capacity constraints, and drive PO acknowledgment cycle times down.
- Lead RFQ processes, negotiate pricing and volume agreements, and deliver measurable cost-down results against PPV targets.
- Partner with Engineering on new product introductions, design changes, and ECR/ECN implementation.
- Maintain ERP/MRP master data integrity: lead times, MOQs, pricing, and sourcing rules.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Planning, Finance, Logistics, and Customer Service to manage supply risk and reduce premium freight and excess inventory.
What Experience You Should Bring
- 3–5 years purchasing/procurement experience in electronics manufacturing, light assembly, or technology-driven production.
- ERP/MRP proficiency (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Epicor, or Infor); advanced Excel (pivots, XLOOKUP, analytics).
- Working knowledge of MRP logic, BOM structures, cost breakdowns, and three-way match processes.
- Strong negotiation skills — comfortable running RFQs, building quote comparisons, and closing volume agreements.
- Proven supplier management track record: OTD tracking, corrective actions, proactive escalation.
- Bachelor's in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Preferred: commodity experience in electronics, PCBs, EMS, metals, or plastics; Lean/CI exposure; CPSM, CPM, CPIM, or CSCP certification.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
- Company experiencing significant product line growth with expanding global market reach.
- Work with cutting-edge electronic safety and wireless products used in demanding industrial environments.
- Direct operational impact — sourcing decisions flow straight to the production floor.
- Innovation-driven culture with clear growth paths and investment in employee development.
