About The Role
The Business Process Consultant will support sales tax and indirect tax compliance activities for a high-volume, multi-jurisdictional organization. This role is focused on preparation, filing, and payment of tax returns, maintaining audit-ready documentation, and supporting communication with taxing authorities and business partners. The consultant will work closely with an internal tax team to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and process efficiency.
Job Description
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient completion of sales tax and other indirect tax compliance obligations. You will leverage strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills to manage tax data across multiple systems, support audit readiness, and collaborate with internal teams and external authorities.
- Prepare, file, and process payments for sales tax and other indirect tax returns
- Ensure compliance obligations are met accurately and on schedule
- Navigate multiple systems to gather tax data and initiate check or electronic payments
- Maintain detailed tax records to support audits and appeals
- Review and respond to mail, notices, and tax-related inquiries
- Communicate with taxing authorities to research and resolve questions or discrepancies
- Draft written and verbal responses related to tax notices, vendor exemption certificates, and partner requests
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and the sales tax team to support ongoing compliance processes
Qualifications
Required
- Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail
Preferred
- Prior experience supporting sales tax or other indirect tax processes
- Familiarity with tax compliance or audit support environments
