Briefing Attorney

We are seeking a Briefing Attorney for a law firm client in Houston, TX. This position will support the firm's litigation practice with high-level legal research, analysis, and written advocacy. This role is ideal for an attorney who prefers substantive legal work—drafting, analyzing, and shaping arguments—without the demands of discovery or managing the day-to-day matters of a case.


What You’ll Do

  • Draft motions, briefs, and legal memoranda across a range of litigation matters
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and provide strategic analysis
  • Collaborate with attorneys on case strategy and positioning
  • Review and refine filings to ensure clarity, precision, and persuasiveness
  • Support dispositive motion practice and appellate work


Requirements

  • J.D. and licensed in good standing with a U.S. state bar
  • Experience working in a briefing capacity with a judicial court or reputable law firm
  • Strong legal research and writing skills (this is the core of the role)
  • Must have drafted at least five appellate briefs


Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • Background in commercial or employment litigation matters
  • Experience in federal court and complex litigation
  • Prior clerkship or briefing-focused role
