BRANCH MANAGER — FREIGHT BROKERAGE / 3PL
Nav Logistics Inc. | Houston, TX (In-Office, 100%) | Full-Time | Urgent Hire
Experience: 5–7+ Years | Team Leadership: 20+ People
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
COMPANY DESCRIPTION
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Nav Logistics Inc. is a non-asset-based 3PL logistics provider headquartered in Houston, TX. We specialize in transportation management and freight brokerage, leveraging cutting-edge technology to coordinate and track shipments nationwide. We are woman-founded, fast-growing, and serving clients across all freight modes — dry van, reefer, flatbed, and container.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
POSITION OVERVIEW
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
We are looking for a professional, people-first Branch Manager — someone who thinks and acts like the owner of the branch. Your job is not to do everyone's work. Your job is to make sure the right people are in the right seats, they know exactly what they need to do, they have the training to do it well, and they are held accountable to clear targets every single day, week, and month. You lead from the top — through your team.
The Branch Manager at Nav Logistics Inc. is the owner of the branch in every sense. When targets are missed, you diagnose why and fix it — whether that means retraining, restructuring, or making tough calls on personnel. When a gap opens up because a sales rep or carrier rep is unavailable, you step in, sort it out, and keep the branch moving. You are calm under pressure, decisive when it counts, and always the most professional person in the room.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
PEOPLE LEADERSHIP & TEAM MANAGEMENT
• Conduct regular face-to-face, one-on-one meetings with every team member — know what each person is doing, where they are struggling, and what they need to succeed
• Know your team's performance inside out — every sales rep, every broker, every dispatcher — without doing their job for them
• Set clear daily, weekly, and monthly targets for every individual and the branch as a whole
• Hold the team accountable; when numbers fall short, investigate root cause — training, attitude, tools, or fit?
• Make hard calls with professionalism — training plans, performance plans, or personnel changes when necessary
• Build a team culture that is friendly, collaborative, high-performing, and respectful at all levels
HIRING & TRAINING
• Own the full hiring process — identify talent gaps, source candidates, interview, select, and onboard the best people
• Build a branch team with strong sales reps, carrier reps, and support staff who can grow within the company
• Provide the best possible onboarding and ongoing training so every team member knows the freight brokerage business, the systems, and the Nav Logistics way of working
• Develop training materials, scripts, and processes that set new hires up for success from day one
• Continuously invest in your team's skills — every month, not just when someone is new
SOPs, REPORTING & BRANCH PERFORMANCE
• Build and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for every key function — sales, brokerage, dispatch, customer service, and reporting
• Review daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports — track KPIs, revenue, profit margins, and operational metrics
• When branch targets are missed, analyze the numbers, identify the gap, and present a clear action plan to leadership
• Report branch performance regularly — including wins, risks, and corrective actions already in motion
• Ensure full compliance with company policies, DOT regulations, and safety standards
• Oversee the office — maintain a professional, organized, and productive workspace every day
STEPPING IN WHEN THE TEAM NEEDS IT
• The Branch Manager is a leader first — not a frontline salesperson or carrier rep day-to-day
• However, when a situation arises — a sales rep is unavailable, a carrier issue escalates, a key account needs immediate attention — the Branch Manager steps in, takes ownership, and resolves it without hesitation
• Be fluent enough in sales, carrier relations, and freight brokerage operations to cover any position temporarily
• Use every gap or crisis as a learning moment — debrief the team and update SOPs so it does not happen again
BUSINESS GROWTH & BRANCH STRATEGY
• Work closely with corporate leadership to set branch growth strategy and revenue goals
• Monitor the freight market, competitor activity, and client trends to identify opportunities
• Support and coach the sales team in developing and winning new shipper accounts
• Manage the branch budget and profit margin with full accountability — if the target is $100K profit and the result is $50K, you own the answer to why and the plan to fix it
• Build long-term relationships with key clients and partners on behalf of Nav Logistics Inc.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
THE PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
✅ Professional & warm — a true gentleman or lady, respectful and able to connect with anyone
✅ Owner mentality — thinks and acts like it is their company, takes full responsibility for every outcome
✅ Problem solver — calm under pressure, quick to diagnose, decisive in action
✅ People developer — gets the best out of people through coaching, listening, and high standards
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
REQUIREMENTS
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in freight brokerage, 3PL, or logistics — at least 3 in a leadership role
• Proven experience managing teams of 20+ people across sales, operations, and support functions
• Strong understanding of freight brokerage operations to step in when needed (FTL, LTL, reefer, flatbed, containers)
• Track record of building, training, and developing high-performing teams
• Experience setting targets, analyzing performance data, and taking corrective action
• Experience creating and managing SOPs and reporting frameworks
• Exceptional interpersonal skills — friendly, professional, respected at all levels
• Strong, confident decision-maker
• Located in Houston, TX — in-office 100%
• Background check and drug test required
Note: This role is not primarily a sales or carrier-facing position. We need an experienced team leader who manages through their people — not an individual performer looking to step up. If your strength is closing deals personally rather than coaching others to close deals, this is not the right role.
We welcome all qualified candidates — man or woman, any background. What matters is professionalism, people skills, and the ability to lead. Nav Logistics Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
