Job Summary

The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for St. Dominic High School, including the general ledger, payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. This role ensures timely financial reporting and compliance with Archdiocesan and school policies. The Bookkeeper works with limited direct supervision and operates under the general guidance of the Business Manager and/or school administration. Accounting software is utilized to process transactions and maintain financial records.

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and all subsidiary financial records.
  • Process and manage payroll, including preparation, tax reporting, and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of tuition, fees, and other student-related accounts; generate billing statements and support collection efforts as needed.
  • Prepare, code, and process invoices and payments in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile all bank accounts and oversee electronic transfers and related financial activity.
  • Assist in preparing monthly and annual financial reports for school leadership.
  • Support the development and monitoring of the school’s annual budget.
  • Maintain employee financial records related to payroll and benefits; assist with benefit tracking and payroll-related updates in the HR system.
  • Serve as a liaison with the Archdiocesan Finance Office and Human Resources regarding financial and payroll matters.
  • Ensure compliance with Archdiocesan policies, internal controls, and accounting best practices.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of three to five years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Archdiocesan systems or school-based financial operations is a plus.
