Performs a variety of manual and semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and appearance of Calf Pasture Beach and surrounding recreational areas during the season. Work includes maintaining beach grounds, park facilities, public restrooms, pavilions, comfort stations, picnic areas, walkways, parking areas, and other public-use spaces. Duties involve, but are not limited to, collecting litter and trash, cleaning and stocking restrooms, emptying receptacles, monitoring facilities for cleanliness and safety, and assisting with the general upkeep and beautification of the beach and recreational grounds.
Employees in this class support full-time staff in maintaining beach facilities and related structures, including buildings, shelters, benches, picnic tables, fences, bleachers, water fountains, and other recreational equipment. Incumbents may also assist with event setup and breakdown, respond to routine maintenance needs, and perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
- General methods, tools, and materials used in manual labor and basic maintenance work
- Proper practices for cleaning public facilities, including restrooms and high-use areas
- Safe work practices related to lifting, cleaning, groundskeeping, and the use of hand tools
Skill in:
- Performing manual and semi-skilled maintenance tasks in an efficient and safe manner
- Cleaning and maintaining public facilities to a high standard
- Using basic hand tools and maintenance equipment
Ability to:
- Perform physically demanding work outdoors in varying summer weather conditions

- Identify routine maintenance and cleanliness issues and respond appropriately
- Lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Adapt to changing work assignments and seasonal operational needs
Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to demonstrate the ability to perform manual labor and semi-skilled tasks involving the care, maintenance, cleaning, and beautification of public grounds, beach areas, landscaped spaces, and public facilities.
Related experience in parks maintenance, custodial work, groundskeeping, or general labor is preferred.
- Must be available to work a seasonal schedule during the summer months, including weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed
- Work schedule may vary depending on beach operations, special events, weather conditions, and seasonal programming
- Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, including frequent walking, bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, and working outdoors for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required
