Job Description

This position will primarily focus on assembly processes, the equipment, tooling, and capital involved to make operations successful. You’ll be working alongside all functional areas of the business. 


Supporting new business opportunities, the launch of newly awarded business, changes to existing business, continuous improvement projects, and quality improvements. This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

• Responsible for achieving new program assembly KPI (eg, OEE, Attainment, Downtime, Scrap) assigned at Award of Business to ensure Manufacturing can achieve KPIs in serial production

• Responsible for creating and updating APQP deliverables, including but not limited to, BOM, process flow, PFMEA, WIP & FG packaging, internal and external part labels, work cell layout, PFEP, assembly/secondary equipment home line integration into the plant, packaging purchase request submission, packaging instructions, work instructions for mold and assembly, and capacity for mold and assembly.

• Support for additional APQP deliverables, including but not limited to, sample part runs, floor space approval, DVP&R, verify parts will meet specifications, assembly/secondary tooling procurement/design review/equipment kick off, assembly/secondary tooling and equipment sign off at suppliers, pre-production builds, operator training, capability studies, internal run at rates, and lessons learned

• Conduct/Participate in continuous improvements on existing equipment, documenting findings, providing recommendations for improvement, create ROIs, and work closely with stakeholders to implement action plans.

• Conduct/Participate in root cause analysis of quality issues and identifying potential areas for improvement.

• Lead and develop projects related to the assembly process, including identifying areas for improvement, and implementing changes to increase efficiency and quality.

• Stay current on industry trends and advancements in automotive assembly technology to improve the efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness of the assembly process by attending events, conducting research, benchmarking, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.


 


Skill and Education Requirements


  • (Preferred) BS or BA in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Business; or adequate job-related experience in Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Quality, Tool & Die, or other Business function.
  • Understand manufacturing processes.
  • Provide technical support on all product assigned Program launches.
  • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling.
  • Familiarity with MS Office suite, databases, spreadsheets, word processing, and program timelines.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees in the organization.
  • Ability to plan and execute Launch activities within the Plant.
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams toward success.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to clearly write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to negotiate toward a preferred solution.


Work Environment

  • Observe all company safety rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Travel as requested by the company and customer.
  • The work environment characteristics described here are typical to standard office and manufacturing floor settings with moderate noise levels and high level of activity. The work will mostly be in a manufacturing environment with occasional work in a climate-controlled environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and fumes. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate
