Position: Automation Engineer

Location: Highland Park, Michigan

Duration: DIRECT HIRE

Salary: $80-115k

OT: Yes, 45 hour weeks - 7am to 4pm hours, must be able to work Saturdays if needed

Travel: 2x/ year for 2-3 days at a time - fully expensed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s in Engineering Science/Technology or 5+ years of experience within a related field.
• Strong background in manufacturing, automation, controls, and troubleshooting.
• Experience in PLC programming & troubleshooting (Allen Bradley preferred) and HMI software programming (Factory Talk or Ignition preferred).
• Experience designing, running diagnostics, building, & programming machines.

Day to Day:

Insight Global is looking for an Automation Engineer that manages and improves secondary equipment and assembly processes, focusing on increasing uptime, capability, and reducing cycle time. Daily responsibilities include supporting new program launches, implementing error‑proofing systems, responding to downtime, and assisting with equipment builds, PM development, and quality investigations. The engineer trains department personnel, reviews new technologies, manages special projects, and supports maintenance, engineering, and lean initiatives. Some travel and occasional weekend work are required.
