Job Summary

Engauge is hiring an Automation Engineer Mechanic to play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing our advanced automation systems, including palletizing, box handling, and robotic extraction technology. This is an exciting opportunity to work hands-on with innovative equipment in a fast-paced environment where your contributions directly impact operational success.


Responsibilities


- Perform routine preventive maintenance on automated systems (robotic arms, conveyors, EOAT, control systems, etc.)

- Conduct daily system checks and ensure all quality control functions are operational

- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including parts and tool storage areas

- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues; perform necessary repairs

- Disassemble, inspect, and overhaul systems as part of scheduled maintenance

- Respond rapidly to breakdowns to minimize downtime

- Accurately log maintenance activities and technical configurations

- Collaborate with engineering and production to improve processes and throughput

- Participate in design and commissioning of new automation systems

- Train staff on safe operation and maintenance of equipment

- Stay up to date with evolving automation technologies through training and vendor support

- Coordinate with third-party vendors for complex repairs and parts procurement

- Adhere to all safety regulations and industry standards

- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives


Qualifications


- Able to work independently with minimal supervision

- Strong knowledge of electronics, PLCs, pneumatics, and vision systems

- Skilled in MIG/TIG welding, machining, and tool usage (lathe, drill press, mill, grinder, etc.)

- Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical schematics

- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

- Team player able to collaborate across departments

- Enrolled in or completed associate degree or certification in Mechatronics, Automation Tech, or similar (Bachelor’s degree a plus)

- Fork truck training/certification or willingness to obtain

- Solid mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving ability

- Proficient in basic computer programs and maintenance systems
