Senior Associate Attorney – 6-8 years' experience – New York City Office

Boyd Richards Parker & Colonnelli is a civil defense law firm of 70 attorneys with offices in New York City and across Florida (Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, and Palm Beach), and more than two decades of service to corporate, insurance, and individual clients. A significant portion of our practice is devoted to insurance defense work on behalf of national and regional carriers. We are seeking an experienced Senior Associate Attorney with 6-8 years of litigation experience to join our New York City team.

This is an opportunity to handle a sophisticated mix of commercial, real estate, condominium and cooperative, and construction matters, along with employment practices liability and other general liability cases. Our clients range from Fortune 500 companies to closely-held businesses and individuals, and we approach every matter with the same standard of preparation, judgment, and care. We are particularly interested in hiring an attorney with experience in complex civil litigation, including commercial, real estate, landlord-tenant, and condominium/cooperative/community association disputes.

The candidate will manage their own cases from inception through trial, with direct client and carrier contact, while working alongside partners and mentoring junior associates. The work is varied and substantive, and it rewards attorneys who bring both rigor and good judgment to their cases.

Strong analytical, writing, research, and communication skills are expected. Responsibilities:

  • Managing caseload from inception through post-trial
  • Attending court conferences, oral arguments, depositions, mediations, and trials
  • Preparing pleadings, discovery and discovery responses, motions, and other litigation documents
  • Preparing timely reports regarding case status and ongoing activities for clients and carriers
  • Supervising and mentoring junior associates and paralegals
  • Communicating effectively with clients, senior attorneys, and paralegals
  • Prioritizing workload based on deadlines and client needs
  • Meeting billing requirements

Required Skills:

  • Substantive experience in commercial litigation, real estate litigation, and/or construction litigation; EPL and insurance defense experience a plus
  • Trial and deposition experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact with attorneys, paralegals, court personnel, opposing counsel, clients, and office staff in a professional manner
  • Ability to delegate and prioritize as necessary
  • Independent and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of ProLaw, Expert Sierra, iTimekeep, and NetDocs a plus

Required Qualifications:

Member in good standing of the New York bar; admission to the federal District Courts a plus.

Schedule: Approximately 2000 billable hours expected per year
