Associate Attorney

HNE
Denver, CO

Overview

Our staffing firm has partnered with a growing, multi‑state law firm to recruit an Associate Attorney for its Colorado foreclosure, default, and real estate litigation practice. The position is heavily litigation‑focused, high‑volume, and hands‑on, requiring an attorney who is comfortable managing matters independently from start to finish. The firm offers a flexible, hybrid work environment without traditional billable‑hour requirements.

This role is ideal for an attorney who values autonomy, courtroom experience, and long‑term stability over prestige or a highly staffed model.

Responsibilities

  • Handle contested foreclosure, default, and related real estate litigation matters end‑to‑end
  • Manage approximately 25–30 active litigation files at varying stages
  • Appear in court throughout Colorado for hearings and contested matters
  • Draft pleadings, motions, affidavits, responses, and correspondence
  • Prepare and file exhibits, court filings, and hearing materials independently
  • Communicate directly with courts, opposing counsel, pro se borrowers, and clients
  • Track deadlines, statutory requirements, and compliance obligations
  • Conduct foreclosure reviews and final litigation‑related quality checks
  • Perform both substantive legal work and necessary administrative “grunt work” without dedicated litigation staff support

Requirements

  • Active Colorado Bar license (required)
  • 2–4 years of litigation experience minimum
  • Willingness and ability to attend in‑person hearings statewide
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Comfortable operating with minimal support and handling filings independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage a fast‑paced, high‑volume docket

Foreclosure or default experience is preferred but not required

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is flexible, self‑sufficient, and realistic about the nature of high‑volume litigation work. This individual is not afraid of doing the full scope of work themselves, filings, exhibits, deadlines, and hearings included, and understands that this is a hands‑on role rather than a delegated one.

Attorneys who tend to thrive in this environment often come from:

  • Foreclosure or creditor’s rights practices
  • Family law (high emotional intelligence and pro se interaction)
  • Prosecutorial or government litigation backgrounds

Success in this role requires professionalism, empathy when working with pro se litigants during stressful situations, and a strong willingness to show up in court when needed.
