Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Assistant Production Manager to help drive daily operations within our production department. This role works directly with the Production Manager to ensure efficient workflow, accurate job tracking, and continuous improvement across the shop floor.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving operational challenges, and takes ownership of improving processes that impact production performance, cost control, and delivery.
This position offers the opportunity to develop leadership skills while gaining hands-on exposure to manufacturing operations, scheduling, process improvement, and project coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Production Coordination & Scheduling
• Coordinate scheduling of work centers and personnel to support production goals
• Monitor job progress and ensure accurate tracking of labor and project hours
• Review daily timecards and reconcile with MRP labor tickets
• Compare estimated vs. actual labor hours to identify variances and improvement opportunities
Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement
• Analyze workflows to identify inefficiencies and implement practical solutions
• Optimize material and part flow between work centers
• Conduct audits of work centers, job carts, paperwork, and labor documentation
• Update and maintain operating procedures for each production area
Job Costing & Production Analysis
• Monitor job costs during production and conduct post-completion cost analysis
• Evaluate part usage to determine optimal manufacturing quantities and stocking levels
• Identify cost drivers and opportunities to improve production performance
Shop Organization & Project Leadership
• Maintain shop layout and job assembly locations to support efficient operations
• Ensure organization, cleanliness, and safety standards across the shop floor
• Lead special projects and operational initiatives with measurable progress updates
• Assist the Production Manager with day-to-day operational decisions
Communication & Team Collaboration
• Coordinate and support departmental meetings
• Communicate job status, issues, and improvement opportunities with management and team members
• Help maintain clear documentation and communication between departments

Education & Experience
