Alternative Asset Manager – Private Credit

A leading alternative investment platform is seeking an Assistant Controller to support its finance team focused on private credit investment strategies.
The firm manages capital across complex credit-oriented vehicles and works with a global institutional investor base. This role offers exposure to sophisticated fund structures, financial reporting, and direct collaboration with senior finance leadership.
Position Overview
The Assistant Controller will support fund finance activities across private credit vehicles, with a focus on NAV oversight, financial reporting, and fund operations. This individual will work closely with internal teams, fund administrators, and auditors to ensure accurate reporting and timely execution of key deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Fund Accounting & NAV Oversight
- Review and validate monthly NAV packages prepared by fund administrators
- Perform detailed analysis to ensure accuracy of financial reporting
- Review accounting treatment of investment transactions
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Support investor reporting and financial reporting processes
- Assess fund and strategy performance
- Assist with ad hoc financial analysis
Fund Operations
- Interpret fund governing documents and ensure proper accounting treatment
- Support ongoing fund operations and ensure deadlines are met
- Review investment-related documentation and accounting impact
Audit & Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with external auditors across multiple fund entities
- Support audit processes and provide required documentation
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation
- Enhance reporting workflows and operational efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 6-15 years of experience in:
- Investment funds
- Fund administration
- Public accounting (financial services focus)
- Strong understanding of fund accounting and financial reporting
- Experience with private credit or alternative investments preferred
- Knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills
- CPA (or equivalent) preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
