This seasonal role with Utah Valley University Continuing Education offers a rewarding opportunity to support hands-on science learning in a fun, safe, and engaging summer camp environment. As the Assistant for Community Education Science Youth Camps, you will play a key part in the daily success of youth programs by supervising participants, supporting instructors with classroom activities and technology, and helping create a positive experience for every camper. In addition to classroom support, this role is central to maintaining smooth daily operations through coordinated camper drop-off and pick-up procedures that prioritize safety and clear communication. Working under the guidance of the Continuing Education Operations Facilitation Manager, you’ll gain practical experience in youth program facilitation while contributing to meaningful educational experiences.

This short-term, weekday role (June 1–June 12, Monday–Friday, variable hours between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.) is a great fit for individuals seeking hands-on experience in education, science engagement, or youth services within a supportive university setting.

  • Child Supervision & Safety: Oversees and ensures the safety and well-being of all camp participants during camp activities, transitions, and scheduled breaks. Emergency Response: Acts swiftly and appropriately in emergencies, following established safety protocols to ensure participant well-being. Campus Navigation & Supervision: Guides and transfers youth safely between locations on campus for different scheduled activities.
  • Drop-Off & Pick-Up Coordination: Supervises designated drop-off and pick-up locations, ensuring a smooth and efficient process while verifying authorized guardians. Parent & Guardian Interaction: Communicates effectively with parents/guardians regarding camper needs, schedules, and possible incidents.
  • Instructor Assistance: Supports instructors by helping with classroom setup, activity facilitation, and troubleshooting technology as needed. Classroom & Activity Support: Assists in preparing and organizing materials for activities, monitoring group engagement, and providing hands-on support to enhance the camp experience.
  • Additional Duties: Performs other job-related responsibilities as assigned.
  • Must have graduated from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree in a closely related field plus one year of experience related to the Summary of Duties OR any combination of education and/or applicable experience totaling three years.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Must complete mandatory training before the start of camps.
  • Must be available:
    • Dates: June 1 - June 12, 2026
    • Days of the Week: Monday - Friday
    • Shift Times: Variable (between 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.)

Preferred Qualifications:
Valid/Active CPR certification preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:
Must possess a valid/active driver’s license.Knowledge
