Position Overview: Talladega College seeks a qualified, experienced, student-centered, and collegial Assistant/Associate Professor of English and Department Chair. The Department of English houses modern languages, literature, and Humanities in the School of Humanities and Fine Arts. This position is a tenure-track, nine-month Assistant/Associate professor or ten-month Associate Professor and Chair position that reports to the Dean of the School of Humanities and Fine Arts. The position is slated to begin the Fall 2026 semester.
Key Responsibilities: Executive Calendar & Travel Management: Manage and maintain the President’s master calendar; Coordinate all travel arrangements; Ensure schedule updates are communicated; Prepare a Daily Schedule Folder. Meeting Preparation & Executive Support: Prepare comprehensive briefing materials; Ensure the President is prepared for all engagements; Coordinate across divisions. Office Operations & Professional Standards: Oversee daily operations of the Office of the President; Develop and maintain effective office systems. Policy Management & Institutional Effectiveness: Coordinate with Institutional Effectiveness; Monitor compliance with policy standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include academic advising, administrative support, maintaining laboratory supplies, complying with safety protocols, managing operations for the Biology and Chemistry Departments, recruiting students, and serving on college-wide committees.
