The Snow College English and Philosophy Department is seeking applicants for the position of Writing Program Administrator and Assistant Professor at its Ephraim campus. This position is a tenure-track full-time position (nine months) to begin August 2026, pending funding.
  • Master’s degree in composition and rhetoric or closely related field (PhD preferred), with substantial training in or experience with writing program administration.
  • Higher education teaching experience in composition required. Experience teaching developmental composition and/or technical writing and writing studies courses preferred.
  • Ability to instruct students from all backgrounds.
  • Ability to teach courses through a variety of delivery modes, including online, evening, and broadcast settings.
  • Ability to plan, administer, and assess writing curriculum and oversee writing programs.
  • Ability to use learning management software.
  • Teach a 3/3 load fall and spring semesters on a nine-month contract beginning August 2026, with administrative responsibilities (the typical load for tenure-line faculty is 4/4, so the admin responsibilities constitute a course release).
  • Provide instruction each semester teaching three courses in developmental, technical, and/or first- and second-year composition and writing studies courses.
  • Work closely with department chair to oversee writing program, including such duties as:
    1. Oversee and provide subject-specific training of Writing Tutors (coordinating with Director of Unified Lab)
    2. Oversee English composition placement
    3. Coordinate the Writing and Rhetoric Certificate
    4. Oversee faculty development related to composition
    5. Ensure consistency across composition courses
    6. Coordinate with various College departments (academic, registration, advisement) about writing in and out of the department
    7. Oversee regular assessment of composition courses
    8. Coordinate concurrent enrollment composition courses
    9. Serve on state Composition Workgroup
  • Assume responsibilities as a full-time faculty member, including departmental and curriculum planning/assessment, professional and scholarly development, institutional and community service, and student recruitment and advisement.
