Huntingdon College (Montgomery, Alabama) invites applications for the position of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor of Secondary Education to begin August 2026. This is a tenure-track or tenure-eligible position, requiring a 24-credit hour teaching load (typically four courses per semester) of face-to-face teaching of a range of courses contributing to majors in Teacher Education, plus requirements in student advising, service, and scholarly activity.

The bulk of the teaching load will be in courses required for Secondary Education degrees, with some contribution to introductory level courses in the major. Faculty with multiple competencies may be asked to teach courses in any area where they are qualified.

Successful candidates will demonstrate excellence in teaching, especially in teaching first-year college students, and a strong commitment to ethical behavior and professionalism. Required Qualifications:
  • An earned Ph.D. in a Secondary Education content area of English Language Arts, Biology, Math, Social Studies, or History. Master’s or Ed.S.-prepared candidates and ABDs nearing completion will be considered for an instructor-level position; an appointment to the tenure track requires a terminal degree.
  • Three years of teaching experience in a content area in a secondary school.
  • Teacher certification in a secondary content area for Alabama. Candidates with certification in states with reciprocal agreements with Alabama may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching at the university/college level. (Applicants with significant college-level teaching experience may be eligible to receive credit toward tenure.)
  • Administrative leadership experience at either the secondary or college/university level.
