Assistant or Associate Professor of Writing and Rhetoric Gordon College’s English Program seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of English with a specialization in Composition and Rhetoric or Writing Studies. Secondary interests in global literatures and/or creative writing will be especially appreciated. Rank will be commensurate with experience. Position to begin July 2026. Gordon College is a Christian liberal arts institution located in Massachusetts on Boston’s North Shore, a beautiful coastal area with easy access to Boston. The ideal candidate will: • Demonstrate a dynamic Christian faith. • Excel at teaching both Core (General Education) and major courses. • Have a strong desire to develop relationships with students. • Have a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition, or an MFA with 3+ years teaching experience, by August 2026. • Help to develop and support professional writing opportunities for students. • Have an active scholarly or creative agenda. Responsibilities include: • Teaching a mixture core curriculum courses and upper division writing and/or rhetoric courses. • Directing the Writing Center (load credit is given), including hiring, training, and managing tutors. • Collaborating with the English faculty and Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences to develop new initiatives that help students develop their skills as public-facing or professional writers. • Mentoring and advising students. • Committee service.
