Arborist Consultant
Pay: $70,000–$100,000 per year (base salary) + commission
Territory: North Shore – Evanston, Wilmette, Winnetka, Glencoe, Highland Park, Lake Forest

Winkler Tree & Lawn Care is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Arborist Consultant to serve as a trusted expert for residential and commercial clients across Chicago’s North Shore.
In this role, your expertise becomes your greatest asset. You’ll evaluate tree and plant health, develop science-based care plans, and build long-term relationships with clients who rely on your professional guidance. What You’ll Do
- Conduct on-site evaluations of trees, shrubs, and plant health care needs for residential and commercial clients
- Diagnose tree and plant health issues, including pests, diseases, structural concerns, and environmental stressors
- Develop and present customized, science-based recommendations and proposals
- Build and maintain long-term client relationships throughout the North Shore territory
- Create and update annual plant health care programs tailored to each property
- Oversee crews assigned to your clients’ projects, ensuring safe, high-quality work that meets contract specifications
- Collaborate with management on territory growth, client experience, and service offerings
- Serve as a subject-matter expert on local tree species, common pests and diseases, and proactive care strategies
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional client experiences
- 3–5 years of experience in the tree care industry, arboriculture, plant health care, or related consultative role
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to identify trees and shrubs common to the Chicagoland region
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Comfortable working outdoors year-round
- Ability to frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
- ISA Certified Arborist
- TRAQ credential
- Degree in Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Turfgrass, Agriculture, or related field
- Experience with CRM systems and proposal software

Physical Requirements
This role requires:
- Working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Walking, standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds regularly
- Navigating uneven terrain and residential/commercial properties safely
