As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Corporate Risk roles depend on a variety of skills, including: Data analysis and synthesis, root cause analysis, change management, process management & execution, risk governance, risk strategy, risk identification & assessment, risk prevention, controls & mitigation, risk monitoring, reporting & escalation, risk systems & technology.

The Compliance team is responsible for establishing, implementing and maintaining risk standards and programs to drive compliance with federal, state, agency, legal and regulatory and/or Corporate Policy requirements. As part of the Independent Risk Management function, Compliance oversees the Front Line's execution and challenges appropriately on compliance related decisions. Provides oversight and governance of a complex business group or manages Enterprise wide compliance program(s). Develops, oversees, and provides independent credible challenge to standards. Is recognized as an industry and subject matter expert with expert business and regulatory compliance functional knowledge. Provides regulatory compliance risk expertise and consulting for projects and initiatives with high risk, spanning multiple complex business lines or firm wide. Works with the most complex business units, rules and regulations or high risk regulatory compliance matters. Independently credibly challenges the reporting, escalation, and timely remediation of business issues, deficiencies, or regulatory matters regarding compliance risk management. Consults and engages business on developing corrective action plans and effectively managing regulatory change. Reports findings and makes recommendations to senior management or directors and to appropriate committees. Leads implementation of complex initiatives with high risk, generally spanning multiple business lines. Internal partnership with the business and other business units, Audit, Legal, regulators, and industry partners on risk related topics. Leads project/ virtual teams and mentors but does not manage other team members.

Job duties may include:

  • Utilize internal & external data, structured & unstructured data to provide insights, develop analytical strategies, and provide analytical support to a wide array of initiatives within Compliance risk assessments
  • Understand existing Compliance landscape and identify opportunities where analytics can enhance the decision making process
  • Engage with Compliance partners to design and implement innovative analytic solutions
  • Partner with Compliance partners to drive adoption of data driven methodologies while adhering to Compliance policy and standards
  • Conduct analysis and research of Compliance data to identify new risks, quantify known risk, automate manual processes and optimize management of the risk environment.
  • Continuously learn new technologies and adapt to requirements as needed


Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of reporting experience, analytics experience, or a combination of both demonstrated through work or military experience; or a BS/BA degree or higher in a quantitative field such as applied math, statistics, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics, econometrics, computer sciences, or business/social and behavioral sciences with a quantitative emphasis and 3+ years of reporting experience, analytics experience, or a combination of both


Desired Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of research and analysis
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • 3+ years of experience with SAS or SQL, or other data management, reporting and query tools
  • 1+ year of Tableau experience
  • Ability to effectively assess stakeholder, partner, or client needs while consulting, building solutions, and developing processes
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to lead during times of ambiguity and change
  • Ability to take initiative, identify opportunities and implement change
  • Knowledge and understanding of compliance or operational risk

  • Experience with Visual Basics for Applications
