MajorDuties

  • Duties include but are not limited to the following: Repairs, maintains, and modifies packaged and window air conditioning units, air handling units, chillers, heat pumps, basic pneumatic controls and associated humidity and temperature controls, air filters, compressors, flex ducts, gauges, exhaust and ventilation systems, vacuum pumps, air compressors, medical air compressors, air cleaners and other associated equipment; Conducts a wide variety of tests on malfunctioning air conditioning systems to determine the causes of problems; Fabricates parts, rebuilds or converts similar parts for use as a replacement parts; Adjusts belts, motor pullies, and couplings to correct alignment; Checks air flow across evaporator coils, air supply and return ducts to determine efficiency of air conditioning systems; Installs compressors, evaporators, motors, condensers and associated parts in A/C equipment; Tests for leaks and replaces copper tubing or capillary tubes by cutting, flaring, sweating, soldering, and/or working with various fittings; Installs air dryers, pressure reducing valves, and pneumatic controls; Services, troubleshoots, repairs, maintains, or modifies medical and dietetic refrigerators, walk-in coolers, cold tables, ice stations and ultra-low temperature lab freezers; Tests controls, performs leak checks, replaces components, evacuates systems and adds refrigerants; Troubleshoots and repairs electrical controls associated with A/C and refrigeration equipment; Tests, evaluates, services, and calibrates air conditioning systems, vacuum pumps, air compressors, medical air compressors and air cleaners; Performs oxygen-acetylene welding in repair of air conditioning/refrigeration equipment; Provides assistance during contract surveys, renovations, or new installation projects; Performs inspections of completed projects and check out new installations to ensure they comply with engineering specifications; Performs preventive maintenance inspections on equipment components and systems related to trade areas of specialization; Inspects, cleans, and checks out equipment controls and functions, and maintains records; and Performs related duties as required.
