Accounting Manager | Real Estate & Construction Services | Multi-Entity Oversight

A well-established and growing New York-based real estate investment and construction company is seeking an Accounting Manager or experience Senior Accountant to play a lead role in the corporate accounting operation. The organization oversees a diverse portfolio of operating businesses and real estate investments, including construction, development, commercial assets, and residential holdings throughout New York City.

This is a highly visible position working directly alongside ownership and external advisors, offering broad exposure across multiple entities and business lines. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in an entrepreneurial, hands-on environment and have experience managing accounting operations across multiple companies while partnering with internal bookkeeping teams and outside accountants.

The company specializes in construction, development, and property ownership across office, retail, residential, and mixed-use assets throughout the NYC metropolitan area

Responsibilities:

• Oversee financial reporting and accounting operations across multiple affiliated companies and real estate entities.
• Review monthly financial statements, general ledger activity, and reporting prepared by internal bookkeeping teams to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes across all entities.
• Coordinate and lead bi-annual audits with external auditors and accounting partners.
• Work closely with ownership and outside tax accountants regarding tax filings, financial reporting, and entity structures.
• Review bank reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, intercompany activity, and cash flow reporting.
• Assist with financial oversight related to real estate investments, construction operations, and development activity.
• Support ownership with financial analysis, reporting, and special projects across various holdings and investments.
• Establish and improve accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting procedures as the company continues to grow.
• Liaise with external vendors, consultants, and professional service providers as needed.

Experience:

• 5+ years of accounting experience within real estate, construction, development, or related industries.
• Experience managing accounting for multiple entities and working within entrepreneurial or privately held businesses preferred.
• Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and audit coordination.
• Experience reviewing work prepared by bookkeeping or accounting support teams.
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
• CPA or public accounting exposure is a plus but not required.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with ownership and outside advisors.

Compensation: $100k-$130k plus benefits, 401k and other perks.
