Accounting Manager - hybrid remote

A growing local manufacturing company is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its leadership team. Reporting directly to the COO, you'll have the opportunity to move beyond traditional accounting responsibilities and become a trusted business partner, analyzing profitability, identifying trends, improving processes, and helping leadership make informed decisions.


What You'll Be Responsible For

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

  • Lead the monthly close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
  • Analyze actual results against budget and forecast, providing insights and recommendations to leadership
  • Prepare monthly management reporting packages and key business metrics

Cost Accounting & Profitability Analysis

  • Monitor product costs and manufacturing expenses to ensure accurate costing
  • Analyze margins by product line, customer, and order to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Deliver regular profitability reporting and actionable business insights

Accounts Receivable & Cash Management

  • Manage customer payment activity and maintain accurate receivable records
  • Monitor aging reports and assist with collection strategies
  • Maintain bad debt reserves and support cash flow management efforts

Payroll & Employee-Related Accounting

  • Record payroll transactions and maintain payroll-related accruals
  • Track vacation and PTO liabilities
  • Support payroll processing and reporting activities

Sales Programs & Operational Support

  • Maintain commission calculations and accrual schedules
  • Track dealer incentive programs and related reporting
  • Support sales and operational teams with financial analysis and reporting

Tax & Compliance

  • Prepare and file periodic sales and use tax returns
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and reporting requirements

Leadership

  • Supervise and mentor a team member supporting AP, invoicing, and payroll administration
  • Help establish and improve processes that support continued company growth


What They're Looking For

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Ability to quickly take ownership of responsibilities and work independently

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Excel skills required, including formulas, PivotTables, and lookup functions
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software preferred
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and account reconciliation processes
