Job Description - Accountant III

Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid – Onsite Monday, Tuesday & Thursday)

Employment Type: Contract through 10/26/2026 (Long-term with strong potential for extension)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Accountant III to join our Joint Venture Accounting & Reporting team. This team is responsible for the full-cycle accounting and financial reporting of joint venture assets across business units.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in joint venture accounting, general ledger (GL) processes, and financial reporting, with the ability to independently prepare and generate financial statements rather than relying on separate reporting teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day accounting activities for joint venture operations
  • Manage general ledger (GL) functions, including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Execute month-end and period-end close processes (balance sheet, income statement, and related schedules)
  • Prepare financial statements, including:
  • Balance sheets
  • Cash flow statements
  • Supporting schedules and footnotes
  • Generate billing statements and financial reports for joint venture stakeholders
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance in financial reporting and accounting standards
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights for business decision-making
  • Collaborate with supervisors and cross-functional teams within the department


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 4+ years of accounting experience (5+ preferred)
  • Strong experience in:
  • Joint venture accounting
  • General ledger (GL) accounting and close processes
  • Financial reporting (hands-on preparation)
  • Experience preparing:
  • Balance sheets
  • Cash flow statements
  • Financial statement footnotes


Technical Skills

  • Experience with ERP systems (preferred: Oracle Cloud; SAP or other large ERP systems acceptable)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including:
  • Pivot tables
  • Macros
  • Complex formulas and data manipulation

  • Ability to handle large volumes of financial data
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work independently as part of a reporting-focused team
