3rd shift Grinder

Position Summary

Vertiv is seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Grinder Operator to join our manufacturing team in Edinboro, PA. This role is responsible for grinding, finishing, and preparing metal components to meet precise specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced production environment and a strong commitment to safety and workmanship.
Reading Blueprints and Specifications
Assemblers must be able to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and flat layouts to ensure the accurate assembly of box cabinets, Racks and related components. Basic Understanding of Building skills, Electrical or mechanical background is a plus

Key Responsibilities

• Operate grinding equipment to shape, smooth, and finish metal components
• Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical drawings
• Inspect parts for accuracy, defects, and conformance to specifications
• Use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
• Maintain equipment and ensure proper setup for each job
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of grinding machines
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE
• Maintain a clean and organized work area (5S standards)
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Previous grinding, machining, or metal fabrication experience preferred
• Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments
• Strong attention to detail and quality control
• Basic mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to work overtime as needed

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Frequent bending, twisting, and repetitive motion
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise and dust

Work Environment

• Industrial/manufacturing setting
• Exposure to metal dust, noise, and moving machinery
• PPE required (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, etc.)
