****Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University of Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees (i.e. paid holidays/leave). Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Schedule: Sunday-Saturday; not to exceed 40 hours per week

Other Conditions:
To begin as soon as: June 1, 2026, for up to: length of appointment, June 30, 2026, but may end sooner, dependent on availability of funding and program need. Must be available to work during a variety of hours Sunday to Saturday 5pm to 9:30am.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides instructional and academic support services for the Academic for Hawaii Intelligence Studies Summer Program in the College of Social Sciences.
  2. Assists the primary instructor in planning and developing curriculum activities, such as events, simulations, games, and field trips.
  3. Leads small group activities during class.
  4. Provides on-site support to supervise program participants during activities and at housing.
  5. Works outside of the normal working hours, including evening, weekends, and holidays, as needed and directed. Travels to various off-campus sites and/or geographical locations.
  6. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Political Science or related field; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  2. Must be able to pass a background check to work with minors.
  3. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
  4. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
  5. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Desirable Qualifications:
  1. Previous experience working with CSSAHI high school students.
  2. Working knowledge of Intelligence curriculum and development.
  3. Work experience in higher education environment.
