****Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assists with all aspects of quality assurance in regards to all STAR software and data testing/debugging.
  2. Ensure the smooth rollout and maintenance of AI Chatbot, scheduling software and other supporting software.
  3. Generate logs and reports for quality assurance data testing.
  4. Assist in testing the design and layout of web pages and user interface to ensure accuracy.
  5. Create training documentation/videos and train faculty/staff/students in software navigation.
  6. Create training documentation for the creation of AI chatbots to assist users with software navigation.
  7. Assist users over the phone and zoom in using all STAR software.
  8. Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Possession of a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management Information Systems and 4 years of progressively responsible professional information technology experience with responsibilities for ensuring a smooth roll out of student-related software for higher education.
  2. Experience and functional knowledge and understanding of technology, systems, hardware and software relating to and associated with student registration, appointment scheduling and scholarship application and allocation.
  3. Demonstrated ability in critical thinking skills to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve routine problems in the area of student registration software for appointment scheduling and scholarship application and allocation.
  4. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
  5. Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with internal organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
  6. Experience in Web Video production using DaVinci Resolve.
  7. Experience in Web Video production using CapCut.
  8. Entry level professional experience in SQL programming & debugging of student registration, reports and scheduling software.
  9. Experience and functional knowledge and understanding of creating documentation for AI chatbots.
  10. Experience and functional knowledge and understanding of web technologies like HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
  11. Experience assisting users over the phone and zoom in using software.


Desired Qualifications:

  1. Experience and functional knowledge of STAR software: Direct Admit, Balance, Academic Logic, Scholarship Set Up & Access, Giving Tree, Userve and STAR GPS.
  2. Entry level professional experience in SQL programming & debugging of STAR GPS, Academic Logic and Balance software.
  3. Experience and functional knowledge and understanding of technology, systems, hardware and software associated with STAR software.
  4. Experience and functional knowledge and understanding of creating documentation for AI chatbots in STAR GPS and Balance.
  5. Experience assisting users over the phone and zoom in using all STAR software.
