Yard Jockey

Operate yard tractor and Class A vehicles to move trailers within the facility yard, ensuring efficient positioning at dock doors for loading and unloading. Work closely with Shipping, Receiving, and Production teams to maintain timely trailer availability in alignment with production schedules. Perform critical tasks such as trailer spotting, docking, and repositioning to facilitate the flow of inbound raw materials and outbound finished goods. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, promptly reporting any mechanical or safety concerns. Verify that trailers meet stringent food safety standards, including cleanliness, lack of contamination, and proper sealing, before loading. Safeguard trailers using appropriate security measures like wheel chocks, trailer stands, and lockout/tagout procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate yard logs, trailer inventories, and movement records, whether manually or system-based.
• Adhere to all company safety policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), OSHA guidelines, and DOT regulations.
• Ensure the yard remains organized and ready for audits, with clear traffic lanes and correctly placed trailers.
• Support internal audits and inspections focused on safety and food safety compliance.
• Assist with additional warehouse or sanitation-related tasks as required.

• Valid Class CDL A Driver’s License in accordance with state requirements.
• Clean driving record meeting company insurance standards.
• Experience as a yard jockey, shunter, or in a similar role within a manufacturing or food production environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with GMPs and food safety standards is a strong plus.
• Ability to operate yard trucks and maneuver trailers safely in tight spaces.
• Strong attention to detail, especially concerning safety and product integrity.

• Driving, general labor, jockey, on-road yard switching.
• Loading/unloading and transporting materials.
• Experience in outdoor labor, GMPs, food safety, forklift operations, and truck driving.

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $56160.00/yr.
