The Northern Recreation and Leisure Services Division is seeking a Teen Program Coordinator. The Teen Program Coordinator is responsible for developing, organizing, and supervising programs and activities that engage teens in positive, educational, and recreational experiences. This role focuses on creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where teens can build life skills, explore interests, and connect with their community.

  • Organize and gather all necessary materials for daily programs, workshops, and special events.
  • Prepare and arrange program areas to ensure they are clean, safe, and well-organized for teen activities.
  • Review the day’s schedule, attendance records, and planned activities to ensure smooth program operations.
  • Greet teens as they arrive and record daily attendance.
  • Provide active supervision throughout program hours to ensure safety and promote positive interactions.
  • Facilitate a variety of activities, including homework assistance, games, arts and crafts, leadership sessions, road trips, and group discussions.
  • Interact with teens regularly to build foster trust and better understand their needs.
  • Enforce program rules and expectations fairly and consistently.
  • Address conflicts or behavioral issues using de-escalation techniques.
  • Support teens with challenges by offering guidance, accountability, and encouragement.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians about participation or concerns.
  • Coordinate with assistant director/ director, volunteers and community partners.
  • Participate in staff meetings/ trainings to discuss programming, updates, and youth needs.
  • Track attendance, incidents, and daily program notes.
  • Submit reports, forms, or data to supervisors.
  • Manage a list of materials and supplies.
  • Organize permission slips, schedules, and program documentation.
  • Evaluate daily activities and note areas for improvement.
  • Brainstorm new and innovative program ideas based on teen feedback or observed needs.
  • Follow emergency procedures if issues arise.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and welcoming activity areas.
  • Plan, coordinate logistics, and supervise teens during off-site activities.
  • Communicate trip details with families and obtain necessary paperwork.
Required
  • Be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Have access to reliable transportation.
  • Possess a combination of education, experience, and/or certifications relevant to this position.
Preferred
  • Experience in managing and/or supervising a related program is desirable.

  • Basic computer skills, including email, scheduling tools, and documentation.
May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.

Work hours
  • Generally, 4 hours per week. Friday and Saturdays from 7- 10 pm. Time may vary depending on offsite event time.
Working Conditions/Environment
  • Indoor and outdoor working environment.
Supplemental information
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
  • Pay rates are based on experience and qualifications. ·
  • Position is seasonal/part-time and does not include a benefits package.
  • Seasonal employees are subject to accrue sick leave.
  • Lifting and carrying supplies and materials may also be involved.
