Job Description


The Wound Center Clinical Supervisor, under the direction of the Manager, oversees the day-to-day operations of the Wound Center, providing both administrative and clinical support to staff and patients. This role ensures efficient department operations through effective planning, coordination, and supervision of personnel and resources, while collaborating with physicians and advanced practice professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.

The Supervisor supports the development, revision, and implementation of policies, procedures, and protocols related to wound care practices. This role maintains awareness of the department budget to ensure operations remain within established guidelines, promotes staff accountability for clinical performance and communication, and ensures compliance with all applicable regulations governing outpatient wound care services in the State of Illinois.

Essential Duties

  • Coordinate internal and external referrals in collaboration with clerical staff and nurse case managers.
  • Monitor productivity and workflow to ensure effective utilization of staff and resources.
  • Ensure compliance with the Corporate Compliance Plan, organizational policies, and Code of Conduct.
  • Maintain adherence to cleaning, decontamination, OSHA, and infection control standards; report safety concerns as required.
  • Collaborate with the Manager and Medical Director to address clinical and operational issues.
  • Lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention efforts for department staff.
  • Provide direct patient care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient education and responses in the medical record.
  • Promote best practices through participation in quality assurance, performance improvement, and data collection initiatives.
  • Track key performance metrics and coach staff to achieve established targets.
  • Foster effective relationships with patients and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Establish departmental goals and lead process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and ethical and legal billing practices.
  • Oversee staff scheduling to meet patient care needs, including weekends, holidays, and education time.
  • Manage payroll processes, including timecard approvals and leave requests.
  • Support employee engagement through recognition programs and performance evaluations.
  • Participate in departmental and organizational committees and facilitate regular team meetings.
  • Assist in budget development and monitor departmental expenses, including capital and minor equipment purchases.
  • Oversee purchasing and inventory of supplies and expendables.



Preferred Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in wound care.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage diverse patient populations and staff.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation of performance metrics.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage projects effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Required Licensure/Education

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Current, unencumbered nursing license (or applicable state registration) in the State of Illinois.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Effective 04/01/2024: Obtain and maintain a nationally ANCC-recognized nursing leadership or specialty certification within 12 months of hire.
