SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

FeedMore’s Workforce Development program (RISE) is a free-to-trainees immersive job training program designed to help those who are chronically unemployed or underemployed find high-quality jobs with the potential for career advancement. RISE currently offers a 9-week Logistics program four times per year and a Culinary program consisting of 12-weeks of classwork and a 2-week internship three times per year. More programs are planned for the future.


FeedMore WNY is seeking a full-time Workforce Development Support Coordinator to provide critical student supports to potential students, current students and graduates. The person in this new role will assist with: recruiting; applicant onboarding; helping students with life issues, including providing outside referrals; transportation; graduate follow up; data entry and more. The ideal candidate for this position can serve as a peer advocate leveraging their lived experience and/or has a background in social work, not-for-profit coordination and/or has worked with similar at-risk populations.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with the student recruitment process, including helping at tabling events and connecting with partners about upcoming cohort dates.
  • Reviews and replies to applicants. Schedules applicant intakes and drug screens. Enters background check data into a vendor website and checks on results, escalating any concerns to RISE instructors or the Chief Workforce Development Officer.
  • Beginning Summer / Fall 2026: Once FeedMore has completed the move from our current Buffalo locations to Camp Road in Hamburg, the person in this role will manage and drive the student shuttle (15-passenger van) between Camp Road and the downtown bus terminal (or other identified points) each day.
  • Provides case management for all current students. Helps students and graduates process life issues, brainstorming on solutions where appropriate and providing external referrals to wrap-around services where possible.
  • Completes periodic graduate follow-up. Adds student data (e.g. demographics, contact info, intake documentation) to our case management software (Allco) and maintains database usefulness by regularly adding updates from other RISE staff.
  • Assists with ordering and/or picking up supplies (e.g., breakfast snacks, gas cards, hygiene pantry items, textbooks, online training registrations, supplies for the culinary program, etc.).
  • Receives any employer feedback and shares it with the instructional staff and Chief Workforce Development Officer for awareness and potential action.
  • Assists with any and all mission work as needed and requested with some or no prior notice including, but not limited to: serving as a truck spotter, helping with Farm Market/Community Garden/Freight Farms/on and off-site food distributions, preparation of meals and serving home-delivered meals.
  • Completes all other duties as assigned in order to support RISE and FeedMore.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services or a related field preferred
  • Two (2) years of experience working with diverse at-risk populations, case management, social work and/or workforce training. o Candidates with lived experience who do not meet the above qualifications but are passionate about helping others succeed and willing to be trained, will be considered.
  • Working knowledge of available community resources and the ability to build on existing resource network.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid organization skills with the ability to analyze information.
  • Strong communicator providing thoughtful follow-up and timely responses to all stakeholders.
  • Works independently and as a contributing team member.
  • Ability to relate to and work with a diverse trainee population and have empathy for those that we serve while ensuring that they make progress towards self-sufficiency.
  • Ability to occasionally work non-traditional work hours and work week; work setting varies from office, warehouse, commissary, and in the community.
  • MUST have a valid NYS Driver’s License/be capable of lifting 35 lbs.
