The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Claims Manager to play a critical role in overseeing and advancing our workers’ compensation claims strategy across multiple jurisdictions. This position offers the opportunity to lead complex, high exposure claims, partner with internal and external stakeholders, and influence outcomes that protect both our colleagues and the organization.
Reporting to the Head of Work Comp Claims, this role serves as a key liaison between internal operations, third party administrators (TPAs), insurance carriers, adjusters, and legal partners. The successful candidate will bring strong judgment, deep technical expertise in workers’ compensation claims, particularly California, and a collaborative mindset to support best in class claims management and loss prevention practices.

The Role
As the Workers’ Compensation Claims Manager, you will have end-to-end responsibility for the oversight of workers’ compensation claims, including litigated matters, across multiple states. Your work will directly impact claim outcomes, cost containment, compliance, and return to work success.
Key responsibilities include:
· Overseeing all aspects of workers’ compensation claims handling, including reporting, medical management, reserving, litigation, negotiations, settlement, and return to work coordination
· Serving as the primary point of contact for TPAs, adjusters, and defense attorneys, and supervising adjuster performance to ensure high standards and effective cost control
· Partnering closely with legal counsel to determine optimal claim strategies and drive timely, appropriate resolutions
· Conducting regular claim reviews to assess progress, evaluate exposure, and identify opportunities for early settlement
· Ensuring compliance with workers’ compensation laws, regulations, and internal standards across hotel operations
· Supporting and monitoring transitional duty and return to work programs to promote safe and timely employee reintegration
· Producing reports and analyses using Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS) to support safety initiatives and leadership decision making
· Assisting with enterprise-wide loss prevention initiatives and special projects aligned with broader Risk Management objectives
· This role requires the ability to exercise independent judgment, manage competing priorities, and collaborate across functions to deliver consistent, high-quality results.
Experience Required:
· 5+ years of workers compensation experience, with significant experience managing California workers compensation claims and litigation (experience in other Southwest states is preferred)
· Direct experience handling litigated workers compensation claims
· Strong understanding of workers compensation laws, regulations, and best practices
· Experience working with TPAs and insurance carriers, including performance oversight
· Ability to analyze claim data, assess risk, and support loss control and safety efforts
· Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
· Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple, complex cases simultaneously
· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
· Experience with claims, RMIS platforms
· Willingness to travel approximately 10–20%
Experience Preferred:
· Associate or bachelor’s degree
· Relevant insurance certification and/ or coursework related to insurance or risk management

The salary range for this position is $89,000 to $130,000. This position is also eligible to earn incentive awards and an annual bonus.
The final pay rate/salary offered to the successful candidate will depend on experience, skill level and other qualifications for the role, as well as the location of the performance of work. Pay for the successful candidate will meet local requirements, including the local minimum wage rate.
