The WIM CAO, Marketing & Strategy Business Control team is responsible for partnering with the relevant business group to identify, assess, manage and mitigate current and emerging risk exposures associated with their activities and operations. Monitors, measures, evaluates, and reports on the impact of decisions and controls to the relevant business group and enterprise function. Consults and provides guidance to business groups on the development, implementation, and monitoring of complex business-specific programs to identify, assess, and mitigate risk. Consults and supports interpretation of policy, guidelines, and governance programs as the front line liaison to Independent Risk Management leaders for moderate to high risk and complexity enterprise risk programs. Provides a high level of risk management acumen to support the business in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, business processes and controls that mitigate risks and address regulatory requirements. Develops and implements risk monitoring and risk reporting processes and controls. Monitors and reports on its risk concentration, current and emerging risk, and risk appetite. Aggregates, evaluates, reports on results and escalates where necessary. Designs and executes control effectiveness assurance program for Front Line-owned controls. Leads implementation of initiatives with moderate to high risk. Collaborates internally with business regarding risk management of business-specific risk programs. May interface with Audit, Legal, external agencies, and regulatory bodies regarding risk management of business-specific risk programs. May lead project/virtual teams and may mentor but does not manage other team members.

Risk Control & Assessment Programs:

The Risk and Control Assessment Program Officer will manage the implementation and ongoing management of Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Internal Control Programs (ICP); Enterprise Risk Identification and Assessment (ERIA), and Risk Management Effectiveness (RME) activities for the line of business. This includes taking a leadership role in influencing the design and development of enhanced risk assessment process, regulatory change, control library and operational risk taxonomies. This will include advising the accountable WIM CAO, Marketing & Strategy Business Control Manager in the assessment of regulation, policy and process, controls and integration into risk assessment process for control design effectiveness. This leader will provide ongoing support for the risk assessment methodology, as well as consult on the design of risk reports and communicate the program and its effectiveness to leadership, regulators and other key stakeholders.  The role will be aligned to and become an integral leader amongst the WIM CAO, Marketing & Strategy Business Control team on all matters related to risk assessments and ICP in order to ensure effective ongoing program execution and maintenance.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Manage the implementation and governance of Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Enterprise Risk Identification and Assessment (ERIA), and Risk Management Effectiveness (RME) activities across WWIM CAO, Marketing & Strategy LOBs.
• Align with and advise business control leaders and other key stakeholders to ensure timely implementation and effective execution of risk and control identification and assessment, integrated with business process mapping.
• Provide expert guidance and coaching in order to ensure LOB consistently interprets and implements all relevant risk policies and procedures in the context of Risk Assessments and ICP.
• Track overall progress and completion of program requirements for LOB and provide meaningful reporting to LOB leadership and other key stakeholders.
• Keep senior leaders in WIM CAO, Marketing, Strategy and Control, and other key stakeholders abreast of risks, process and control health, and similar infrastructure and capacity concerns impacting the business.
• Moderate Risk Assessment and ICP conversations with LOBs based on knowledge of program methodology and risk management expertise.  Organize outstanding deliverables across the various LOBs and drive efforts to completion.
• Recognize and advise upon consistencies and potential issues with the program and escalate to key constituents in IRM, where necessary.
• Provide reporting, written and verbal updates to LOB risk oversight councils, committees and Enterprise risk committees as issues/incidents arise that require escalation.
• Report risk assessment findings through corporate risk reporting channels and develop business cases to influence control owners and business sponsors on the need for additional or improved controls to mitigate risk as applicable.
• Establish regular routines with testing & validation and audit partners to provide transparency into business risk profiles and trend.

 

 

 



Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in risk management or 7+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in risk management

Other Desired Qualifications

• Knowledge of the financial services industry, products, and regulatory environment
• Clear understanding of risk framework, corporate/business policies, and programs to translate into plans for the business, function and/or risk type (regulatory, financial crimes, credit, operational, etc.)
• Strong Analytical skills including strategically analyzing data, diagnosing opportunities, and providing interventions
• Ability to lead multiple efforts with high risk and complexity
• Ability to create and present executive level communications/presentations
• Ability to implement a solution and communicate, in clear business terms, the benefits of the proposed risk management approach
• Demonstrated capability to confidently raise issues, escalate early, and engage in constructive credible challenge independently
• Proven history of establishing end to end risk management solutions and controls aligned with business/customer processes
• Strong expertise in ERIA, ORE, RCSA and/or control evaluation/SAA process development and execution
• Prior experience in process improvement, automation of control processes, quality assurance and quality control routines, and risk and control metrics and reporting.
