They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required.Under the direction of the Athletics/Aquatics Supervisor, the Assistant Supervisor assists in the planning, organizing, coordinating and promoting aquatic recreation programs for adults and/or youth. Performs general management, administration and supervision of the Wet Zone Waterpark operation. Performs other duties as assigned.
Assists in the operation and maintenance of the pool’s physical plant. Maintains water quality and completes daily maintenance reports. Ensures safety procedures are followed by Lifeguards; assists in training Lifeguards; evaluates Lifeguard performance and reports findings to the Athletics & Aquatics Supervisor. Addresses and assists Wet Zone guests at the Front Desk, Concession area, Gift Shop, and throughout the facility. Assists in maintaining grounds, including general cleanup and trash removal. Conducts in-service training as needed.
May serve as Manager on Duty in the absence of the Athletics & Aquatics Supervisor. Responds to public inquiries regarding recreation programs by telephone, correspondence, or in person. Supervises assigned work units. May operate a cash register in the concession stand or kiosk, collect payments, and provide accurate change. Cleans and maintains the facility in compliance with health department standards at all times. Ensures food items are ordered, received, and properly stored in a timely manner. Assists with customer service, cash handling, stocking, and cleaning duties. Opens and closes the facility as required.
Performs other duties as assigned. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential function of this position, as is the ability to establish and maintain professional and harmonious working relationships.
High School Diploma or GED preferred. Background in aquatics or recreation is desirable.
Valid driver's license required. Must have and maintain a good driving record in accordance with the driving standards established by the City of Rowlett. Must report all traffic citations to his/her departmental Director or his/her designee within two working days of receipt.
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. Ability to use a personal computer, including WORD and EXCEL software; calculator, copy and fax machines, mobile or portable radio, and various sports equipment used in aquatic programs. Ability to calculate pool chemistry and daily cash reports. Ability to schedule, multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines. Ability to deal effectively with several problems at one time; deal appropriately with several individuals in solving problems; analyze various types of data and reach conclusions. Ability to supervise and assist with training and monitoring employees (adults, and college/high school students). In the absence of the Athletic/Aquatic Supervisor, will supervise aquatic staff, including part-time seasonal and contract employees. Ability to manage recreation and waterpark personnel and daily functions. Ability to deal with individuals with limited work history; handle public concerns regarding facility.Will work a varying schedule, including weekends and holidays as designated by the Athletic/Aquatic Supervisor. Food Handlers, or Food Managers Certification, American Red Cross (or equivalent) LG certification required, LGI certification must be obtained within 3 months of employment. WSI certification preferred.
Environmental factors consist of working outside in the heat, sun, high humidity and wind. Exposure to HTH, chlorine, muriatic acid, pool chemicals, and slippery surfaces. Basic noise factors consist of crowds and whistles. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
