This position focuses on skilled welding work, equipment repairs, and fabrication tasks that support transportation operations. The role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety. As a Welder, you will perform the following duties:

  • Skilled Welding:Perform welding, brazing, and metal cutting on various metals using approved methods
  • Equipment Repair:Diagnose issues, make repairs, and fabricate parts for equipment and structures
  • Safety Practices:Follow safety procedures, report hazards, and maintain a clean and secure work area
  • Maintenance Tasks:Keep small inventories, assist with grounds work, and complete related duties as needed
  • Environmental Compliance:Apply environmental protection requirements and attend required training
  • Work Documentation:Make observations, complete reports, and communicate findings clearly

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Mandatory or unscheduled overtime may be required to support operational and seasonal needs.
  • Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures;or
  • Completion of a three-year, high school Vo-Tech training program in welding and eighteen months of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures;or
  • Completion of an approved welder apprentice program;or
  • A welding certificate D1.1 from the American Welding Society;or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
