Responsibilities
The primary goal issatisfyingcustomer requirements of quality, quantity, and delivery, in a safe manner, while maximizing productivity. Specifically, theWelder / Fitter Iis responsible forall job activitiesrequiredto support production processes. These activities include but are not limitedto:fitting/adjusting parts, tacking, and MIG welding steel.Employee isresponsible for visually inspecting parts.
Other responsibilities
- Lays out, positions, and secures parts and fabricates material according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler
- Tack-welds or welds components and projects.
- May be subject to using powered saws,torchand hand plasma
- Prepares and finishes workpiece, using portable grinder, or scraper
- Welds components in all positions
- Ensure welds meet standards and specifications
- Perform precision layout tasks and precisely fit together their structural parts and components
- Read/work to engineered drawings and welding symbols
- Perform shop mathematical calculations
- Followsall plant safety guidelines,practicesand procedures. Also, be aware of activity in the work surroundings andmaintaina clean and safe work area
- Properly usepersonal protective equipment whenrequired
- Maintain regular attendance – have reliable means of transportation
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Prior manufacturing experience is highly preferred. Any technical or vocational education/training in relation toskillslisted below is also desirable.
- Must have the ability to passaAWS D.1.1 3G vertical metal core pulse transfer weld qualification
- Must have intermediate blueprint reading knowledge
- Knowledge of machine operation, cutting, sawing, drilling, and grinding parts is desirable
- Ability to use welding tools
- Forklifts and Overhead crane experience preferred (in-house training available)
- Team player - must be able to work with others
- Must have andmaintaina high sense of urgency to meet and exceed all production goals
- Attentive to detail watching for material defects and any quality issues
- Physically capable of standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling,reachingand twisting throughout shift
- Capableof repetitivelylifting 25-50 lbs.
- Candidates must be flexible to work overtime as needed, which may include weekends and/or holidays
- Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug test.
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee works intypicalmanufacturing environment with overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Overhead LED lights throughout the workspace create a bright workspace for employees to safely perform their work.
- Normally clean work environment where the process creates some grinding dust, heat/cold, fumes/odors, and vibration. Housekeeping is performed as needed throughout the day and at the end of each shift.
- The noise level in the work environment is normal to manufacturing processes with air tools, grinders, and other tools. Yearly audiometric testing is provided by the company tomonitorareas for improvement.
- Non-climate-controlled facility in thesummer,each work area is provided with fans to help keep cool. In thewinterit is heated.
Educationand Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing / fabrication welding
Required Equipment
- Gloves,jacketsand sleeves supplied (can use personal equipment)
