Title: WebSphere Administrator

Location: Remote (CST hours)

Duration: 3+ months

Pay: $60 - $70/h


Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.

• 5+ years of experience in web systems environments, including web application installation, upgrades, deployment, and supporting infrastructure.

Technical Skills

• Hands‑on experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server and IBM Liberty.

• Experience using WebSphere Performance Monitoring Interface (PMI).

• Experience with JBoss application servers.

• Strong understanding of WebSphere internals and inter‑component interactions.

• Solid experience with messaging architectures, including WebSphere MQ.

• Strong understanding of J2EE application architecture.

• Experience instrumenting Java classes and evaluating application and JVM performance metrics.

• Proficiency in Java/J2EE and open‑source frameworks such as Spring, Struts, and MyBatis.

• Proficiency in at least one modern scripting language (e.g., Perl, Python, Grinder).

• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Java, C, C++, or C#).

Key Responsibilities

• Perform WebSphere and scripting fine‑tuning to ensure optimal system performance and stability.

• Design, execute, and analyze performance and load tests to evaluate application behavior and capacity.

• Perform system administration tasks in a Windows server environment, supporting web and middleware platforms.

• Conduct technical root cause analysis for complex system defects and outline effective corrective actions.

Deliver reliable and scalable solutions using structured and sound problem‑solving methodologies.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
